About the Event

Revival is excited to announce our 2nd event of our Systems party series, after great success with our Warehouse Systems.

Fanon Flowers - Fanon Flowers (pronounced Fuh-nahn) is a Techno music producer and DJ based in Los Angeles, California. Fanon was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, exactly halfway between Detroit and Chicago, the birthplaces of Techno and House music. A product of his environment, Fanon grew up listening to Detroit Techno and Chicago House music via cassette tapes recorded off the radio from The Wizard aka Jeff Mills (WJLB) in Detroit and DJ Farley Jackmaster Funk (WBMX) in Chicago. Soon after, Fanon purchased a Roland SH-101, TB-303, TR-505 and TR-606 and started buying Techno 12" records. Fanon naturally gravitated to the more dominate post-industrial machine sounds of Detroit Techno and quickly developed a style which combined the funky, dark, syncopated rhythms of Detroit Techno with the raw soul of Acid House music.

After meeting Carl Craig through a mutual friend, Flowers began to garner attention in 1994 when he appeared as Mode Selector on the "Elements of and Experiments with Sound" compilation on Detroit's seminal Planet E label. In 1996, Fanon Flowers appeared under his Mode Selector alias on the "Detroit: Beyond the Third Wave" Compilation.” Released on Astralwerks Records, Flowers appeared alongside Detroit Techno stalwarts such as Terrance Dixon, Claude Young, DJ T-1000 aka Alan Oldham, Ectomorph, and Anthony "Shake" Shakir.

Also in 1996, Flowers started his own Techno imprint, Mechanisms Industries (distributed by Triple Vision Holland), to showcase his unique and mechanical approach to Techno. With over 60 records produced and released on various labels, including Planet Rhythm, Pole Group, TH Tar Hallow and Modularz. Currently, Fanon continues to produce music for his own label, and perform DJ’s sets at European venues.

TYLR (BAK DØR, Detroit Soundsytem) - In a few short years of arriving in the Detroit music and party scene, Tyler has begun to leave an original and lasting mark.

A transplant from Toledo, Tyler has spent the last 8 years in Detroit soaking up the unique and diverse culture of the city. With this influence and his innate talent, Tyler mixes a far ranging set that pulls the strings of nostalgia fluidly combined with modern Detroit beats.

As part of the duo Submixxive, Tyler has held down a residency on Mondays at Motor City Wine and Saturdays at The Whisky Parlor. They have also performed at various events throughout the city. Submixxive presents an evening that starts smooth and mellow and builds into a dance frenzy.

Tyler has also become an influential member of the community of party promoters in Detroit. He manages talent bookings and promotions at The Whisky Parlor and was part of the team that created and promoted the venue POP. His Norway Detroit parties, which he throws with RJ Stefanski, Lindsay Marie, and Steven Reaume, are some of the most interesting events in the city. Norway Detroit is known for elaborately decorated environments, great sound systems and Detroit's best talent.

Tyler has opened for some of the most influential DJs in Detroit, from old school DJs that have set the standard like D Wynn, Billebob, Mike Huckabee, Jason Kendig, Brian Gillespie, Dat Dwong, John Santos, John Ryan, and Alton Miller to new DJs that have been rising quickly in the scene such as John Coyle (JC3), Peter Croce, Rex Bravo, Ariel Corley (DJ Holographic), Monica and Andrea Ghita, Dj Lena, and Mizz Chavez.

Tyler is just getting started. With ambitions to continue building on the foundation of his time in Detroit, the future for him is one to watch.
